Psplash causes a linux kernel crash[0] on am62lxx and am62pxx when u-boot splash screen is enabled due to changes to u-boot[1]. psplash first latches on to /dev/fb0 (simplefb driver) later when the linux drm driver comes up it re-creates /dev/fb0 (tidssdrmfb) causing the psplash to crash.
