Fragments can no longer set it directly, so it trips do_kernel_configcheck on v7.2 (e.g. beaglebone): 'CONFIG_FB_MODE_HELPERS' last val (y) and .config val (n) do not match config 'CONFIG_FB_MODE_HELPERS' was set, but it wasn't assignable Drop the now-ineffective assignments; the FB drivers select it as needed. Under OpenEmbedded this trips the buildpaths QA check on kernel-dbg (samples/rust/*.ko and vmlinux), since the remap no longer reaches debug info and rustc rejects a second --remap-path-scope, so it cannot be widened from the recipe. Widen the scope to 'all' so rust debug info is remapped like C, restoring the pre-7.x behaviour that reproducible-build environments rely on. On target that header was only shipped inside the objtool block, but objtool is built on x86-64 only (arch/x86/Kconfig: select HAVE_OBJTOOL if X86_64). A 32-bit x86 kernel-devsrc build therefore lacked tools/include, fell back to include/uapi/linux/types.h (which does not define bool), and failed: arch/x86/tools/vdso2c.c:74:9: error: unknown type name 'bool' Copy tools/include unconditionally so the archscripts host tools build regardless of whether objtool is present.
